What kinds of papers do you accept?
We publish research-based essays that demonstrate strong analysis, clear arguments, and original thought. Submissions should be rooted in academic research and supported by credible sources.

Who can submit?
Any student (grades 7–12) from anywhere in the world.

Is there a submission fee?
Yes, there is a submission fee.
​
What is the word count requirement?
Most accepted papers are between [X–Y words]. Exceptions are possible for outstanding work.

How often do you publish?
We release new issues [quarterly/biannually/annually].
Submissions
How do I submit my paper?
Once you have paid the paper submission fee, you will be sent a link to submit your paper through our online submission portal in [Word/Google Docs/PDF] format.

Can I submit more than one paper?
Yes. Each submission is reviewed separately.

Can I submit a paper I already used for school or a competition?
Yes, as long as it has not been formally published elsewhere. Please note any prior submissions when you send it in.

What citation style should I use?
Chicago/Turabian, MLA, or APA are all acceptable—as long as you’re consistent.
Do I need a bibliography?
Yes. All submissions must include a full bibliography or works cited page.

Review & Selection
Who reviews the papers?
Our editorial board, made up of teachers, scholars, and experienced student editors, carefully reviews each submission.

How long does the review process take?
Expect a decision within 6–12 weeks of submission.
What criteria are used to select papers?
We evaluate essays based on originality, clarity of argument, depth of research, writing style, and proper citation.
Will I receive feedback if my paper is not accepted?
Due to the high volume of submissions, detailed feedback is not guaranteed. [Adjust if you plan to provide comments.]

Publication & Recognition
What happens if my paper is accepted?
You’ll receive an acceptance letter. Our editors may suggest revisions before final publication.
Will my work be edited?
Yes. We may make light edits for clarity, grammar, and formatting, but your ideas will remain unchanged.
Will I receive recognition?
Authors of published papers receive [certificate, publication credit, etc.].
Can I list this on my college applications?
Absolutely. Publication in our journal is a respected academic achievement.
Do authors get paid?
[State your policy—most student journals do not pay, but may provide a free copy or digital access.]

Do you accept STEM or interdisciplinary papers?
Yes—as long as they present rigorous research and clear arguments.
Can I submit a co-authored paper?
Yes. Please list all contributing authors on your submission.

Not required, but encouraged.
Do I keep the rights to my paper?
Yes. Authors retain copyright. By submitting, you grant us first publication rights.
How can I improve my chances of being accepted?
Read past issues, follow citation guidelines carefully, and polish your essay before submitting.
FAQs
1 / Who is eligible to submit a paper?
Students may submit a research paper to Lewis Lake Publishing if it was completed while in secondary school and before enrolling in college or university. Submissions must be written in English, authored individually, and unpublished outside of a school-sponsored publication. We welcome papers from students in public, private, and home school settings.
2 / Can I submit more than one paper?
Of course!
3 / What is the deadline for submitting my paper?
For consideration for the Summer issue, your paper should be received by February 1, 11:59pm EST (UTC -5).
For the Fall issue, your paper should be received by May 1, 11:59pm EDT (UTC -4).
For the Winter issue, your paper should be received by August 1, 11:59pm EDT (UTC -4).
For the Spring issue, your paper should be received by November 1, 11:59pm EST (UTC -5).
These deadlines are for consideration in a specific issue. Essays are eligible for at least the next four issues.
4 / How do I confirm that my paper was uploaded/received?
You will receive a confirmation email once your submission has been received.
